The poem is where the music of the world resonates, and meter and rhyme are mere correspondences, echoes of universal harmony. Inspired by Octavio Paz’s paraphrase, RIMA suggests a poetic narrative based on the relationship between two people from distant geographies who coincide and support each other in the construction of a common definition.

RIMA is a new contemporary circus creation for theaters and public spaces. A show that combines circus techniques and movement, with the Cyr wheel as its central language and the various coincidences that unite the two creators, Alan and Alvin, as its starting point.

Alan Sencades y Alvin Yong

Alan and Alvin were born on the same day, both emigrated to Portugal, where they trained at the INAC circus school, specializing in the Cyr wheel, and both stayed to live in Porto. Alan Sencades was born in Recife, Brazil, and has created several works, such as “Ferro à Ferrugem,” supported by Mostra Estufa and Teatro da Didascália, and “Ária,” supported by Trengo 23. He also works as a trainer in various community projects. Alvin Yong was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and has been touring various festivals with his show “Soul to Show” for several years, such as the Festival des Artistes de Rue in Vevey, Switzerland, and the Altstadtzauber Soest in Germany, among others.

Erva Daninha

Since 2005, Erva Daninha has sought to develop contemporary circus through various programming and mediation projects, including the Trengo Circus Festival, the Mostra Estufa, the CCC creation space, and community projects. Its mission is to promote creation, technical and aesthetic research, and a close relationship with the public. It is a structure funded by the Portuguese Republic – Culture / General Directorate of the Arts.
