THIS IS A RUCKUS! What a commotion! What a racket! This is a circus!

Jaleo is flamenco; too much jaleo is a circus. In a word, our worlds intersect. Because it is halfway between circus and flamenco.

Alboroto: a beautiful, resonant word. Alboroto is an Arabic legacy.

The circus and flamenco know a lot about heritage. The meanings of alboroto have a subtle connection with the circus and flamenco.

We want to talk precisely about those connections between circus and flamenco that are not so visible. It is a cheerful and nonsensical word. Alboroto will be a cheerful and crazy show.

Truca Circus is a unique company. It is a highly prolific circus company that approaches each project with its own perspective and artistic teams, which has led us to collaborate, co-produce and involve dozens of circus artists in a very short time and to create shows with very different characteristics: Ludo Circus Show, Neón, Sopla!, Quixote, El círculo and the three editions of Circo De sur a sur, a co-production project with La Grainerie in Toulouse. Truca Circus has built its repertoire on the following premises: freshness, humour, a commitment to the authorship of guest creators, a desire to address the potential diversity of contemporary circus, attention to aesthetics and the promotion of Andalusian creation.

Shows such as El círculo (2024), Sopla! Shows such as El círculo (2024), Sopla! (2021), Neón (2019) and Ludo Circus Show (2016) have toured extensively and won numerous awards. Ludo Circus Show, a co-production with various Andalusian companies and the origin of the company, won the award for best show at Fetén 2018 and the Lorca Award from Teatro Andaluz in 2017, among others. Sopla! won the award for best show at Umore Azoka (Leioa) in 2022, the Lorca award for best circus show in 2023, and the Su-sana Herreras award at ARCA in 2023.

Truca Circus is characterised by its ability to build projects based on co-production, collaboration and sectoral vision. In Quixote (2024), created as part of Creative Europe’s Sounds of Change project, a circus troupe works with a local symphony orchestra invited on each occasion. The show has travelled to Portugal, Mexico (Guadalajara Book Fair) and will soon visit the Manizales Festival in Colombia and Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan. In Circo de Sur a Sur, Truca Circus has worked with La Grainerie centre in Toulouse to create an annual framework for encounters between artists from Andalusia and the south of France: the result has been the shows Circo de sur a sur (2022), La sombra del oro (2023), and El mundo mundial (2024), bringing together a total of thirty-three artists. Todos ellos han girado por España y Francia y se prepara nueva edición para 2025.

Truca Circus is a project by Noletia S.L., recognised in 2024 by the Academy of Performing Arts with a nomination for the Talía Awards for best production work. It pays attention to aesthetics and dramatic expression, but also generates designs that are highly functional for the different circus disciplines (juggling, aerial) and the realities of our circuit (a theatre design is not the same as a street design, and likewise, each theatre and each street context usually requires adaptations). The lighting design will also take into account the tone and aesthetics we are aiming for, so in general terms the lighting will support—not overwhelm—the colours of the costumes, set design and props. We will have some very wild passages, almost disco-like, with the use of effects, colour and movement, and others in which sobriety is used to reinforce silence, peace and pause. We will have some very wild passages, almost disco-like, with the use of effects, colour and movement, and others in which sobriety is used to reinforce silence, peace and pause. On this occasion, the show will incorporate specific lighting equipment for the tour (in Sopla! we are bringing backup equipment and in El Círculo 100% of the equipment) to create certain effects.

Finally, the percussion sets of the musician on stage (Javier Prieto) will have a special presence and will be integrated into the aesthetics of the show.
