Circus and dance merge to explore the gravity of matter in
rural environments. KANKARRO is a moment of gathering, conviviality and celebration inspired by the apple culture in the Basque Country. An invitation to immerse yourself in a contemporary ritual where time will be caught between the aerial and terrestrial dimensions. Repetitions, manipulation of objects, collectivity, and exploration of the circle are the seeds of this ode to the apple in all its forms and stages; from seed to tree, from tree to fruit, and to transformation, degradation, and finally compost. Artists seek to expand and innovate traditions that are being lost to agricultural industrialisation and the replacement of labour by machines.
From the beginning to the end of the play, we are taken on a sensory journey in which we nurture bonds and connections, enjoying a most unexpected fruity appetiser.
Cía KANKARRO
The Kankarro Company is made up of two multidisciplinary artists who are passionate about the arts of movement and cultural development in outdoor spaces.
Combining circus with dance, together they explore the gravity of the body in the creation of ephemeral and aerial atmospheres based on a rethinking of everyday life and our relationship with the ecosystem.
